"Hi, originally from France, I've been exploring our wonderful world for the last past 10 years. After 4 years in Latin America, of which I spent 3 in Peru, I decided to drop my backpack in Chachapoyas, northern Peru. Chachapoyas is a beautiful city in the edge of the Andes. I fell in love with its streets, its people and its landscapes.
Chachapoyas is the capital of the Amazon region, which contrary to what its name says, is not in the "jungle", but at the border of the Andes and the Amazon. Amazonas is a place full of history and hiding many archaeological sites. Sacred place to the Chachapoya culture, its name means "warrior of the clouds". Several rural communities currently occupy its lands.
After gaining experience working with NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) in Peru, I decided it was time for me to start my own project. Back to Chachapoyas, I felt it was the perfect place to realize my dream. Because of its location and its low economic development, the Amazonas is a region abandoned by the Peruvian government. Likewise, the low concentration of people has made of this region an area unattractive to international NGOs. However, the region needs initiative allowing the development and improvement of the quality of life, the health and the education. That's why I decided to concentrate my efforts in the Amazonas region and particularly in the Chachapoyas area with the idea of creating an NGO supporting education but also helping to respond to other social problems that face the people today.
